Anambra trains teachers in digital learning

The Anambra State government, in partnership with an education consultancy, Integral Development Konsult (IDK), has entered into an agreement with Google to train teachers in the state in digital learning.

IDK Chief Executive, Mrs. Chinwe Nweke disclosed this during a joint press conference with the State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha yesterday.

Nweke said the state government, in partnership with IDK, has invited Google’s education department to speak at a digital education summit, to be held later this month. -this.

She said the aim of the summit was to improve teachers’ skills in digital learning, while listing other leading companies in the world of information and communication technology (ICT) that will take also speaking at the summit to include Dell, HP, Zinox, Coscharis among others.

According to her, “We are looking for a way to use technology to bridge the digital divide. We bring ICT into basic education and look at how we can use technology to change learning and affect students’ lives.

“Anambra State is very serious with the digitization of learning, and we are inviting a panel of ICT companies to take a look at our sub-topics, which will address the affordability of gadgets, internet networks in remote locations in the state as well as solar energy as the power source for these gadgets.

“We have a lot of leading companies that we have invited to lead discussions on the various sub-themes. We hope that at the end of the discussions, we will come up with a blueprint that will guide the Anambra State Government to transform or bring about rapid transformation in learning.

She added that the summit would announce the launch of a “one student, one laptop” campaign, which would seek to encourage affluent people in the state to make donations that will help provide laptops for students in the state. .

Also speaking at the press conference, Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Omenugha said Anambra State Government has been at the forefront in ensuring digitalization of education. learning and was able to show dominance in the region during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
