The platform consists of four key features: 1) an accredited curriculum covering Basic, Advanced Placement (AP) and elective offerings 2) engaging video content, 3) services that support learners and help educators, and 4) experiences that provide positive outcomes for learners while providing educators with valuable information.

At the close of the $29.4 million round, the subject had raised a total of $34.7 million. Tory PattersonManaging Director and Co-Founder of Owl Ventures, joined Subject’s Board of Directors, effective upon the closing of Series A.

Subject previously operated as Emile Learning and raised a $3 million Seed cycle directed by Kleiner Perkins in May 2021 under this name. The company has grown considerably since then, growing from five employees to seventy in the offices of Los Angeles and Seattle. The rebranding aligns Subject’s vision of a world where everyone has access to any opportunity. Subject is already partnered with more than 70 schools and districts across the country, including multiple KIPP campuses, Merced Union High School District and Jefferson County school district, as well as thousands of individual learners. Subject has opened a second HQ at Seattle as well as with additional capital.
