New Digital Learning Lab Opens in East Buffalo

There has been a deficit of access to computers and broadband internet in East Buffalo for many years.

This deficit has been exasperated by the COVID-19 pandemic and with the closure of public schools, thousands of young people in Buffalo have lost access to the main place where they could access technology.

Now, thanks to a new initiative and a partnership between local and state governments, a few nonprofits, and a major telecommunications company, a new computer lab is open to the public six days a week.

AT&T has partnered with the Buffalo Urban League and Dreamerscorp to open the new AT&T Digital Learning Lab at the Buffalo Urban League Community Center at CRUIAL, located at 230 Moselle St.

This computer lab includes 30 state-of-the-art computers, various laptops and tablets, high-speed internet, and a 3D printer available for youth and adults. The laboratory is open 6 days a week, all year round.

During the school year, the center is open as an after-school center and is open all day during school holidays and the summer months.

In addition to financial support, AT&T offers the use of its digital learning software The realization free.

This lab is a nice addition to the community center that has served the Genesee-Moselle region for many years. In addition to the learning lab, there is a newly renovated gym, all kinds of spaces available for the community, and a video game center where children can play all current video games and sign up for a Esports program to learn professional gaming.

Buffalo and Erie County have taken steps over the past few years to help bridge the digital divide that exists in Western New York.

This new center is accessible to the entire community and should go a long way to bridging the gap.
