North America Sees a Hiring Boom in Pharmaceutical Industry Digital Media Roles


North America extended its dominance for digital media hiring among pharmaceutical companies in the three months to March.

The number of roles in North America accounted for 50.5% of total digital media employment, up from 49% in the same quarter last year.

This was followed by Europe, which saw a 0.7 percentage point year-on-year change in digital media roles.

The figures are compiled by GlobalData, which tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job postings are then categorized by topic.

GlobalData’s thematic approach to industry activity seeks to group key company information by topic to see which companies are best positioned to weather the coming disruptions in their industries.

These key themes, which include digital media, are chosen to cover “any issue that keeps a CEO up at night.”

Tracking them through job postings allows us to see which companies are leading the way on specific issues and which are dragging their feet – and more importantly where the market is growing and contracting.

Which countries are experiencing the fastest growth in digital media jobs in the pharmaceutical industry?

The fastest growing country was Canada, which saw 2.8% of all digital media job openings in the three months ending March 2021, rising to 4.3% during for the three months ending March of this year.

Next come the United Kingdom (up 1.4 percentage points), India (0.3) and France (0.1).

The top country for digital media jobs in the pharmaceutical industry is the United States, which saw 46.3% of all advertised jobs in the three months ending March.

Which cities are the biggest hubs for digital media workers in the pharmaceutical industry?

Some 2.9% of all pharma digital media roles were advertised in Shanghai, China in the three months to March.

Next come Cambridge (United States) with 2.5%, Singapore (Singapore) with 1.9% and Hyderabad (India) with 1.5%.
