SBI Foundation launches UpSchool, a free digital learning program with Khan Academy

The SBI Foundation introduced UpSchool, a digital learning program for students in grades 1-10 in partnership with Khan Academy, an educational non-profit organization in India.

This program will be available in English, Hindi and Kannada with the aim of reducing learning gaps and building a strong foundation in math and reading for their current school year. Students or their parents can enroll in the program for free by visiting https://learn.khanacademy.org/upschool and will receive learning links on WhatsApp for 4-6 weeks. Each student will receive a digital certificate upon completion of the program.

In keeping with Khan Academy’s mission to provide free, world-class education, all resources available to parents and learners are 100% free and enrollment in the program is free. The program focuses on revising important concepts from the previous year in math and language comprehension, helping to bridge the knowledge gap and build a strong foundation for the new class. Additionally, there are fun learning activities such as dance and yoga that students can participate in by visiting the learning links. Each week, students will receive a math lesson, a short story and a fun activity/exercise depending on their level and preferred language. They can learn at their own pace and at their own pace from home

Recently, the SBI Foundation and Khan Academy partnered to localize high-quality math learning content so students can learn in their preferred language.

With financial support from SBI Funds Management Ltd., the Khan Academy team has worked with over 6,000 public schools and trained over 11,000 teachers, resulting in nearly 4,00,000 students spending time total learning of over 5.16 lakh hours. 53 percent of the total learning time was in Punjabi.

Speaking about the initiative, Dinesh Khara, Chairman of State Bank Group, said, “With our partnerships, we aim to promote growth and equality among disadvantaged communities and this program facilitates the same.”
