The Hall of Lights, Manhattan’s new cultural center for digital art, opens in September 2022

Culturespaces is the creator and producer of numerous digital art centers around the world that combine his exhibitions at historical places he redesigns and reinvents as permanent destinations, including the famous Atelier des Lumières in Paris, which welcomes 1.4 million visitors a year.

The Hall of Lights will be located at 49 Chambers Street, inside the former Teller Room and Vault Level of the historic Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank, across from Manhattan’s City Hall Park. The old bank has been revamped and redesigned to become New York’s new cultural destination. The immersive digital arts center showcases innovative new ways for audiences to interact with and experience artists and their work, and will feature entirely new and personalized exhibitions every ten to twelve months based on the work of different acclaimed artists. worldwide, starting with the first exhibition, Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion.

The inaugural installation will feature 30-foot-high luminescent images of the legendary painter’s famous works, moving through the spectacular architecture and precisely mapped to the building’s exact specifications, along with other sensory elements, including a soundtrack specially designed for it. presentation. The experience is designed to introduce guests to Klimt’s prolific career while perfectly complementing the large space’s marble walls, towering columns, stained glass skylights and coved ceilings. The artistic team for the exhibition is led by Gianfranco Iannuzzi, whose previous projects include his original immersive experience of Vincent van Gogh’s work at the Atelier des Lumières.

Shorter and complementary digital experiences will accompany Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion. These will include an exhibition featuring works by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist inspired by Klimt; a contemporary creation by the interdisciplinary studio Nohlab, entitled 5 Movements, which will guide visitors in the exploration of space and time through the five different types of bodily movements of a performer; and a contemporary creation, Recording Entropia, exploring the vast possibilities of the human mind.

Guests will also enjoy a presentation on the history and design of the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank, one of the first skyscrapers built in the Beaux-Arts style, as well as viewing panels displaying images of the paintings of Klimt shown in real scale, with information on museums around the world where these works can be seen.

The Hall of Lights will open on September 14, 2022. Ticket prices will start at $30 for adults and $15 for youth ages 5-16 (children under 5 are free).
